Three Extra Years
I’m sitting in a chair right behind her, listening to some music and remembering where I was at this exact time three years ago.
I was down the street in a hospital, where they saved my life.
Tonight I’m home. Ruby is stretched out by the open door. The fan is going. The yard is green. Music is playing.
I’m so grateful for these three extra years.
It has all gone better than I ever could have imagined.
At least for me.
I’m not sure Kate would say the same thing.
But I’m here.
Three years later, I’m still here.
